ASSOCIATION
The MSLCA is a volunteer organization of high school boy’s lacrosse coaches from throughout the state of Maryland whose purpose is to promote individual student-athletes and the high school boy’s lacrosse programs of Maryland. MSLCA promotes high school lacrosse through statewide polls and rankings, pre-season All-State Watchlists and post-season All-State Teams, Senior All-Star game and the Freestate Showcase and games. The MSLCA also participates with The Kelly Foundation to honor the best players from throughout the state in the nominations and presentations of the Kelly Award given to the best individual player in the state as well as Division winners for each of the MPSSAA classifications and a North and South Private School winner. The MSLCA also recognizes the accomplishments of past high school coaches through the MSCLA Coaches Hall-of-Fame.

The MSLCA organizes and hosts the FREESTATE Showcase (formerly the FREESTATE TRYOUTS) which has become one of the best recruiting opportunities for high school lacrosse players. The Freestates Showcase has the best high school lacrosse players from throughout the region tryout for selection to the prestigious MSLCA Freestate Teams. The Freestate Showcase process and games have been one of the most heavily attended recruiting events in the nation.

2022 FREESTATE SHOWCASE

The Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches' Association is proud to host the FREESTATE SHOWCASE in June 2022. The MSLCA has hosted this prestigious showcase/tryout event since the late 1990's. The MSLCA FREESTATE event is the longest running lacrosse event of its kind in the nation. For more than 25 years the MSLCA FREESTATE event has been one of the top showcase events in the country. The MSLCA's sole goal of the event is to provide the public and private school boys' lacrosse players and affordable and fair showcase event. The FREESTATE SHOWCASE is a can't miss event for the summer.

The FREESTATE SHOWCASE is a progressive showcase which will feature two divisions:  Rising Senior Division (2023s) and Underclass Division (2024s/2025s). All uncommitted 2023s, 2024s, and top 2025s should attend the FREESTATE SHOWCASE. The MSLCA will  provide a team of evaluators to evaluate and rank the players at the showcase and invite back the top-rated players from the player rankings to play in the FREESTATE TOP 44 Games. The FREESTATE TOP 44 Games will feature the top 44 2023s in the FREESTATE RISING SENIOR TOP 44 Game and the top 44 2024s/2025s in the FREESTATE UNDERCLASS TOP 44 Game. The FREESTATE TOP 44 Games will be evaluated and the FREESTATE TOP 22 RISING SENIORS and FREESTATE TOP 22 UNDERCLASSMEN will be announced as the MSLCA ALL-FREESTATE TOP 22 for their respective division.

All players that make the FREESTATE TOP 44 will be automatically put on the MSLCA Pre-season Watchlist for consideration for All-State and the Kelly Award . The players who make the TOP 22 will be named to the MSLCA Pre-season Watchlist as well as being named the MSLCA ALL-FREESTATE TOP 22 teams.
